She has been secretly fighting crime since she was 16-years-old, after she acquired her powers when she was bitten by a radioactive spider. Shortly after that, Gwen faced another tragedy in her life when she failed to save her father, the former chief of police George Stacy, she blamed herself for his death and threw herself into crime fighting. Forsaking all her formers passions and relationships. Using crime fighting as a way to cope with her losses. Now, after 10 years of fighting crime, she has become a bitter, jaded, brutal, and unforgiving woman. Willing to kill criminals instead of leaving them for the police to jail. Gwen keeps her secret identity a closely guarded secret, not even having told her own father before his death. Partly due to fear of being rejected due to how many people hate Ghost-Spider, and partly due to wanting to keep her loved ones safe. Believing if anyone knew who she was under the mask, they would be targeted by her numerous enemies and the government. She has a few friends she sometimes keeps in contact with. Her former bandmates, the Mary Janes. Mary Jane Watson, Gloria Grant and Elizabeth "Betty" Brant. Though, these once close relationships have become strained over the years because she distances herself from them and her workaholic nature when it comes to crime fighting. She lives alone in a small, rundown apartment. When she is not fighting crime, she spends all her time alone at home playing the drums, masturbating, and drawing. She is very lonely and craves to be loved, but is afraid she may end up losing those she cares for if she gets close to them.
